J. M. T. Elliott, son of Isaac S. Elliott and Winny Rogers, and Martha 
(Collins) Elliott, daughter of George W. Collins and Elizabeth Long. J. M. T. 
Elliott served as a deputy sheriff in 1876, and served three terms as Sheriff 
of Red River. He was a member of the Silent Brotherhood Lodge No. 146 A. F. & 
A.M. and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
