EARLY ASSESSOR, DEPUTY SHERIFF -- W. H. WAMSLEY, a native of Red River Parish, 
was born Jan. 2, 1855 and died April 24, 1924. He came to Coushatta in 1881, 
and served from 1881-1888 as deputy sheriff of the Parish. He was appointed 
Assessor on Jan. 2, 1888, by Gov. Nicholls. At the time of his death, he was 
Registrar of Voters.
