The record of this marriage can be found at the Natchitoches Court House, Natchitoches County. When ISAAC ELLIOTT, with his wife, WINNY ROGERS , and their large family arrived in Lousiana in 1854 they settled in the region of what is now Red River Parish. The City of Natchitoches was then the area seat of the government, and the County of Natchitoches was undivided. Red River Parish was not established until 1871. ISAAC ELLIOTT lost his wife and several children from illness, not long after arriving. At that point there was no cemetery, and WINNY ELLIOTT and three children were buried on the site of the Elliott cabin. ISAAC's second marriage was to MRS. JULIAN SIBLEY. ISAAC ELLIOTT is buried at Holly Springs Cemetery in Red River Parish. The second MRS. ELLIOTT'S grave-site is unknown.
