A Sunday School organized in 1903 and was the forerunner of the church. First, the church was destroyed by fire but was rebuilt. Then, the church building was struck by a tornado and shifted to one side. Later, a second tornado righted it on its foundation. The present building was erected in 1928 after the devastating flood of 1927 had damaged the foundations of the first building. (Richland Beacon-News, January 1969)
