D. Daughtry late state Tax Collector of the State of Louisiana, for the Parish of Richland by virtue of the power in him vested by law as Tax Collector aforesaid, after having fulfilled and complied with all the previous legal requisites did seize and sell at public Auction the following described property, viz: East one half of north west one quarter, north East one quarter of South West one quarter section thirty, Township fifteen north of Range six East containing one hundred and twenty (120) acres more or less, being the property of W. F. Choat, as per Assessment roll of the State of Louisiana of the year 1871 & 1872 to satisfy a debt due Said State of the unpaid Taxes unto W. F. Choat residing in the Parish of Richland he being the last and highest bidder, on the second day of December 1873 at the Tax Collectors sale at the Courthouse on Beunedett Street between Eugene and Julia Streets town of Rayville, Parish of Richland, State of Louisiana, for the price and sum of one hundred and nine and 40/100 Dollars, then and there in hand paid by said W. F. Choat to said H. D. Daughtry Tax Collector. And whereas, the said H. D. Daughtry Tax Collector did on the second day of December 1873 by virtue of the laws of the State of Louisiana, in such case made and provided make, execute and sign a deed or act of sale, transferring unto the said W. F. Choat in the name of the State of Louisiana, all the right, title and interest of said W. F. Choat in and to the afore described property, which act of sale was duly inscribed in the Record of Conveyances of the said Parish in Book N. II folio 471 & 472. And whereas, due payment has been made to me by the Recorder of the Parish of Richland of the facts aforementioned, and that the said property has not been redeemed by the owner or any legal authorized agent within six months form the day of sale aforesaid. Now therefore, I, Allen Jewel, Auditor of Public Accounts of the State of Louisiana, under and by virtue of the authority in me vested by law, and by virtue of section six of an act of the Legislature of the State of Louisiana, approve March 14th 1873 being act No. 47 of the session acts of the year 1873, do hereby ratify and confirm with full and complete title in the name of the State of Louisiana unto the said W. F. Choat purchased aforesaid, his heirs and assigns forever, all and singular the afore described property, and all the right, title and interest which the said W. F. Choat has or had in or to the same. In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal of office in the presence of Chas. A. Benedict and John J. Peniston competent witnesses at New Orleans, State of Louisiana, this 21st day of Sept. one thousand eight hundred and seventy and the one hundred and second year of the independence of the United States of America.
