The Rhymes Memorial Library was established in 1927 and remained a functioning library until 1971. It is listed on the National Historic Register. The Rhymes was saved from destruction in 1989 with the forming of the Original Richland Restoration Society, which set about to renovate the library.The restoration was completed in 1991. Rhymes was renovated to be used by residents of Richland Parish. Since the restoration, the Rhymes serves the public as a meeting hall, a reception hall for showers, office parties,club meetings,etc It also serves as a secure display area for major art and historical exhibits and a promotional display hall for local artists. As a community centr and a tourist promotional office. The doors are open on a daily basis, and local residents and tourists are encouraged to visit. On a daily basis the building is the operational and administrative offices for the new parish-wide Elder-Care Connections Project. A ministry of sorts,Care Connections is a telephone reassurance program devised to link home-bound senior citizens to the news and activities around them.
