Rhymes Donates Beautiful Building for Home of Richland Parish Library as Memorial to His Wife,The Late Mrs. Nonie Rhymes) Plans have been completed, a site donated by the Richland Parish School board, and work will soon commence on a beautiful little home for the Richland Parish Library which has been recently donated by Mr. R.R.Rhymes as a memorial to his wife. Mrs. Nonie Rhymes When Mrs. Rhymes died a few months ago she was one of members of the library board and one of its most earnest workers. The establishment of the Richland Parish Library and the building of it to where it is doing the magnificent work it is today is due in a large measure to the affectionate and constant work of Mrs. Rhymes. When she was called so untimely, she was wrapped up in this great civic work. We can conceive of no finer tribute for a man to pay his deceased wife than this. to place a memorial so dedicating for all times to the fruits of her patriotic and unselfish labors. This magnanimous sentiment on the part of Mr.Rhymes, which will be expressed so substantially and be the means of so much joy and gratification on the part of the library board, the school children of the parish, the reading public, and the people of the parish generally. The building will be of red mat brick, trimmed in white stone to harmonize with the Rayville High School building and will occupy a suitable location on the northwest corner of the school property where the Presbyterian church now stands. Enough ground has been dedicated by the School Board to provide ample space for the planting of flowers, evergreens, and shrubbery to adorn the immediate surroundings of the beautiful building. The building will not only have a handsome structure from an architectural standpoint. but will be modern in all of its appointments for library purposes.
