M. From Judge Liddell, of Richland, we learn, in addition to the brief statement of our correspondent, that Sheriff Scott, of Richland, his Deputy, Mr. Hester, and two other men, as a posse, found Nettles at the house of Mr. B. Davis, Morehouse parish, about daylight Wednesday morning. Nettles was asleep on the gallery of the house at the time, but being aroused by the barking of the dogs and seeing strange men about, at once sought his weapons, one a pistol and the other a shot gun. He made a determined resistance, shooting Deputy Sheriff Hester with buck shot in the lower region of the abdomen. One of the posse shot Nettles in turn, “blowing off the top of his head,” as our informant states. Nettles killed Kelly in Girard last August. We think, some years ago he was charged with the murder of Mr. Z. Hanna, of Richland, but was acquitted.
