ALICE DEAR At her home in the Lone Cherry neighborhood Sunday, May 8, 1910, the all-wise Creator saw fit to remove from this life the soul of Mrs. Alice Dear, aged about 54 years. She had been a member of the Lone Cherry Baptist Church for a number of years and was a devoted sister. She was a native of Mississippi but had resided in Louisiana for a number of years. Her life was truly an example for us all: gentle, patient, lovable, and even on her death bed she never complained although her suffering was intense. From her lips came a grand testimony a few days before her death. She said she was not afraid to die, was ready and willing to go. How grand a testimony and OH! how conscientiously she bore it. All that human skill could do was done, to no avail. God the Father had her seat and crown awaiting her in high, and on that beautiful Sabbath day sent His angels to bear her spirit home to her reward. Would say to the bereaved husband, children and other relatives, desire not to call her back. While I know your home is lonely without her gentle smiling face and loving voice, she is happy with her Savior who died for her and for you, so live as she would have you live, keep in mind the many noble deeds she has taught you. Deeds that I trust will live even though she is gone, and when your summons comes your thoughts of meeting her will add to your expectations of meeting your Savior. Would add there is but one source of comfort, and that is from the Father who giveth and taketh. Remember He doeth all things well for those who love Him. To the bereaved husband, children, grand-children and other relatives the heartfelt sympathy of all is extended. May God in his infinite mercy give balm to your aching hearts, and may His love fill the void in your home is the prayer of a sister in Christ. H.A.
