All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * Funeral services for Annie Marie "Billie" Brown Chaney will be held at the Rayville United Methodist Church on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 10:00 AM with the Reverend Ted Freeland officiating. Internment will follow at Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home of Rayville. Mrs. Chaney was born on February 14, 1922 in Mangham, Louisiana. She passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 following a short illness. Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her parents Stephen W. and Mary Mason LeCroix Brown, her step-parents Charles W. and Ruby Brown Berry, her three older brothers: Frank J. Brown, Stanley C. "Sugar" Brown, and Robert L. Brown and her sister, Lottie Brown Boughton. Mrs. Chaney is survived by her loving husband of sixty-three years, Joseph Edgar "J.E." Chaney of Rayville, Lousiana. The couple had celebrated their golden anniversary as well as their diamond, sixtieth, anniversary. She is also a survived by her three children: Constance "Connie" Chaney Gotcher and husband Ron of Benbrook, Texas, Charles "Bubba" Chaney and wife Sharon of Rayville, Joseph Edgar III "Joey" Chaney and wife Lisa of Oak Ridge, and Mrs. Chaney has nine loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who all adored their "Mei-Mei". Mrs. Chaney worked in the town of Rayville for many years and was dedicated to serving others. She managed the children's department at Tabor's Department Store and worked at Four Season's Dress Shop and Hollis' Jewelry Store. She managed Kiddie Korner, a children's clothing store in Rayville, and afterward, worked in her son's men's store, Albert's. She loved visiting with everyone in town and was never happier than when she was helping others. She was a member of the Rayville United Methodist Church and was an active member of the local "Saints Alive" group of Rayville. She and her husband J.E. have many fond memories of the trips that they took over the years and the friendships that they made. Pallbearers for the funeral service will be: James S. Chaney, Joseph E. Chaney IV, Matthew L. Chaney, Michael P. Chaney, Gary Raines, Jr. and Billy Herman Worsley, Jr. Many thanks to those who cared for her during her illness, especially, Dr. David Thompson, Dr. Les Johnson, Dr. Kenny Sehon and the nurses and staff at Richardson Medical Center and North Monroe Medical Center. Thanks to all the friends and neighbors who did countless things to help her and the family during the past weeks. Visitation will be at Brown-Holley Funeral Home of Rayville on Thursday, August 11, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials may be sent to Rayville United Methodist Church.
