Aubrey Brunson (Pug) Parham Funeral services for Colonel (Ret.) Aubrey Brunson "Pug" Parham, 83, of Mangham will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Mangham Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Aultman and Rev. Paul Brooks officiating. Colonel Parham passed away Monday, September 27, 2004 at Franklin Parish Hospital in Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville, on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A private family burial will be held at Gwin Memorial Cemetery, Mangham, at a later date. Col. Parham is a native of Mangham. He received a degree in Animal Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He served in World War II in the European Theatre as an infantry platoon leader and company commander from June 1942 through March 1946. He served in the 65th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Division, as regimental signal officer during the Korean Conflict from October 1950 through March 1952. He was stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas from November 1960 through June 1962 during the Viet Nam War.He ended his career as Commander of the 4th Brigade of the 95th Division. Military awards include the Bronze Star with "V" device and two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge for his service in WWII and Korea. Col. Parham retired from the U. S. Postal Service after serving 33 years as rural letter carrier for the Mangham Post Office. He was a member of the Mangham Baptist Church, past Post Commander of the American Legion Post Mangham, member of the W.M. Baker Masonic Lodge #388, served as officer of the Mangham Lions Club, served on the Richland Parish Hospital Board, and was a promoter of the Mangham Dixie Youth Baseball program for many years. Col. Parham was preceded in death by his son, W. Spencer Parham, his parents, H.S. "Pat" Parham and Maude Brunson Parham, one grandson Bradley Clay Jones, and two brothers Alvin Pink Parham and Henry L. Parham. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years La Verne O'Neal Parham; daughter Catherine Parham Hill, daughter Judith Parham Jones and husband Hanis "Buddy" Jones, all of Mangham; one son Patrick Aubrey Parham and wife Lisa Lancaster Parham of Mandeville, LA.; sister Katharine Tillman Parham and husband Charles Tillman of Mangham; six grandchildren: Maudi Jones Morris, Leslie Hill Crow, Lucas Parham Hill, Scott Mitchell Jones, Andrew Cleveland Hill, and Emily Paige Parham; two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Hannah Morris; sister-in-Iaws: Thelma O. Savage of Houston, Pat "Sugh" Groome and husband Jack Groome of Wheeling, WV, Patsy A. O'Neal of Fort Worth and Jeanette George Parham of Mangham. Honorary pallbearers are Brigadier General James Bonsall; Colonel Emmett L. Brown, Jr.; Fred Rushing, Jr.; Paul Gandy; D. B. McKay; and Lieutenant Colonel Frellsen Reese. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to LA. Baptist Children's Home or the Mangham Baptist Church Building Fund.
