All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ALEC RAY TAYLOR Services for Mr. Alec Ray Taylor, 78, of Rayville, LA, will be 10:30 AM, Monday, April 12, 2004, in Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, 2308 Sterlington Road (Hwy 165 North), Monroe, with Dr. Mark Fenn officiating. Burial will be Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Liddieville (Franklin Parish), LA. Mr. Taylor, a 32 year resident of Ouachita Parish and retired Ouachita Coca-Cola Supervisor, was born in Leagueville, TX, on November 16, 1925, to the union of Buell Taylor and Ruby Barry Taylor and died in Monroe, LA, on April 8, 2004. Alec served as a Merchant Seaman in the latter part of World War II. He served three years in the Korean conflict; 14 months as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Bliss, TX; and the remainder in active duty in Korea where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. When recently asked by a VA representative how he achieved that rank at such a young age and so rapidly, he sadly responded, ôThe others just kept being killed, one by one.ö Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Mary Evelyn ôLynnö Taylor of Rayville; son, Larry and wife Debra Moolin Taylor of New York, NY; son, Gary and wife Pam Franklin Taylor of Monroe, LA; daughters, Sherri Taylor of St. Petersburg, FL, and Gena Taylor and fiance Paul Worsham of Carrollton, TX; two cherished granddaughters, Tori and Erin Taylor of Monroe, LA; sisters, Mary Sears of Columbus, GA, and Doyce Tobin and husband Jerry Tobin of Windsor, CO; sisters-in-law, Shirley Taylor of Conroe, TX, and Helen Taylor of Fredericksburg, TX; and brother-in-law, Gordon Crocker of Goodyear, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road (Hwy 165 North), Monroe. Any planned memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. "Pops" will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
