The Richland Beacon-News  2-1896
Mrs. S.E. Barfield, sister of Mrs. E.M. Carter, died at 8:10 Sunday morning of 
pneumonia at the Carter Hotel in Rayville. Mrs. Barfield was 53 years of age 
and had a great many friends who sincerely regrets her untimely demise. The 
remains of Mrs. Barfield, accompanied by a large number of friends, was taken 
to Winnsboro Monday and buried there that afternoon.
