All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Basil Doles,Sr. Services for Mr. Basil Doles, Sr., 87, of Rayville, LA will be held 2 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Rayville United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert E. Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Rayville, LA. Mr. Doles was born in Jones, LA on October 21, 1915. He attended Bonita High School and went on to Louisiana State University where he received a B. S. degree in 1939. Mr. Doles served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was the County Agent for Vernon Parish from 1939 until 1949 and for Richland Parish from 1949 until 1984. Mr. Doles was a member of the National County Agents Association, receiving the Distinguished Service Award in 1961. He received the USDA 40 Years Service Award in 1980. He was also a member of the Louisiana County Agents Association where he served on the Board of Directors. Mr. Doles was on the Louisiana State University Livestock Rules and Regulations Committee. He was a member of the Northeast Louisiana Livestock Show Board of Directors. He served on the Board of Directors of the Rayville United Methodist Church. Mr. Doles was a past president of the Rayville Kiwanis Club where he received the Legion of Honor Award. He was instrumental in establishing the Richland Parish Farm Bureau and the Richland Parish Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Doles was preceded in death by his parents, David Doles, Sr. and Bonnie Kinnard Doles and one brother, Robert F. Doles. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Bryant Doles of Rayville, LA; one son, Basil Doles, Jr. of Rayville, LA; brothers: Thomas K. Doles and David Doles, Jr., both of Monroe, LA; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sam Williams, Ed Jones, Carlton Clark, Roy Franklin, Fred Scott Franklin, Bibb Franklin, Lew Hubbard and Pete Mulhern. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Lane, Dr. Edward Cascio, Buddy Ware, William H. Hubbard, George Franklin and Dr. Doyle Chambers. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 12 Noon Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville, LA. Memorials may be made to the Rayville United Methodist Church or to the Jennifer Frazer Doles Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Foundation.
