Greer, 87, of Rayville, LA, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 13, 2004 at First Baptist Church, Rayville. Officiating will be Dr. Ernest Winburn. Interment will be at Greer Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home Rayville, LA. Mr. Greer was born January 2, 1917, in the Zebedee community of Rayville, and died November 11, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of World War II. He worked with his father as a farmer and was employed as a school bus driver with Richland Parish Schools for forty-two years. He was also a hardware salesman. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents, H. A. and Kate Jeffries Greer, Sr.; his daughter, Laverne G. Dreher; brothers, Roy Greer, Emmett Greer, C. G. Greer; sister, Louise G. Humphries; and step-son, Alton Ray Branch. He is survived by his wife, Edith C. Greer; daugthers, Shari G. Benson and Camille G. McKay; step-son, Larry Branch; brothers, Frank Greer and H. A. Greer, Jr.; sisters, Irma G. Medlin and Maggie G. Franks; thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dan Branch, Michael Benson, Nathan McKay, Hunter McKay, Jared McKay, and Joel McKay. Honorary pallbearers will be his very best friend, Mr. J. E. Chaney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of his grandson, Joel.
