All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * Claude (Jay) Mercer - Thursday 23 July 1992 Richland Beacon Services for Claude Randall (Jay) Mercer, 24, of Rayville, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 1992, in the First Baptist Church of Rayville with the Rev. Earnest Winburn, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Lone Cherry Cemetery in Mangham under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville. Mr. Mercer died Sunday, July 19, 1992, in the Richardson Memorial Medical Center of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident earlier in the evening. He was a graduate of Riverfield Academy and was employed by the Rayville Manufacturing Company, formerly Eastern Industries, as a welder. Survivors include a son, Timothy Micheal Grissom of Rayville; his parents, Claude and Carolyn Mercer, all of Rayville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis (Jan) DeWitt of Ball, LA; a niece, Jessica DeWitt; a nephew, Jordan DeWitt, both of Ball; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bowman and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Dampier, all of Rayville; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mercer of Mangham; great grandparents, Mrs. Mae Banks of Mangham and Mrs. Bera Dampier of Monroe; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers were Jell Williams, Gary Williams, Ben Alan Williams, William L. Damper, Robert Earl Herrington and Charles Free, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were friends and co-workers.
