Jay Simms and Bro. Alvin Stowe officiating. Interment will follow at the Epps Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. The family will receive friends Friday, March 30 from 5PM till 9PM at the funeral home. Doris was born October 5, 1923 in Rayville, LA and she passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at her home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jerald "Howard" Simms, a daughter and son-in-law, Gerrie Simms Sprouse and Harvey "Leon" Sprouse, her parents, Harry Winter Rouse and Lula Stokes Rouse, five brothers, and five sisters. Mrs. Simms was a homeaker and a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and mamaw showering her family with unconditional love. She enjoyed every day of her life and lived it to the fullest; blessing us with her presence. Words cannot express our sorrow at her passing and how very much she will be missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Candy Simms Hughes and husband, Dennis Hughes, two sons, Joseph Harry "Buddy" Simms and wife, Mary Anne Simms, ;"Jerald" Harvis Simms and wife, Dianne Simms 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grand children, and 6 great-greatgrandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Heath Simms, Hunter Simms, Kevin Gwin, Tyler Simms, Chandon Simms, and David Girola. For those who wish memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
