Senn Dewey V “Curly” Senn, 85 of Rayville passed away January 1. He was born November 25, 1917, in Spearsville. The Senn family moved to the Holly Ridge community during Mr. Senn’s senior year of high school and he graduated from Delhi High School. Mr.Senn married Evelyn Colvin, also from the Holly Ridge area on January 13, 1940. They became life long members of the Rayville community. Mr. Senn developed his construction skills during the WWII years and Became a member of the Steam and Pipe Fitters Local 659 in Monroe early in his career and worked at that trade until his retirement. The last 15 years of this career was at Olin Kraft Paper Mill in West Monroe as a construction superintendent. Following retirement in 1989, Mr. Senn served as an elected member of the Richland Parish Police Jury and worked untiringly for the preservation and restoration of his beloved Boeuf River. His true passions in life were quail and squirrel hunting, white perch Fishing and gardening. There were few that did them better. The quantity and quality of his garden was surpassed only by his generosity of sharing the fruits of this labor with his many friends and neighbors. His parents, Willie Elbert Senn and Sarah Stone Senn; two brothers, William Lambert Senn and Boyd Abbott Senn; and a sister Melissa Moton ; preceded him in death. His surviving family include a sister , Holly Jean Carpenter; his wife Of 63 years, Evelyn Senn; his children and their spouses, Dewey Wayne and Mary Lynne Senn, of Rayville, Don Richard and Charlene Senn of Carrollton, MS, Regena and Art Varvoutis of Covington, LA, Joe Michael ad Brenda Senn of Rayville and Hal Mark and Cindy Senn of Rayville;14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services were held January 3 at the first Baptist Church of Rayville, where he was a faithful member for 50 years, with Dr. Ernest Winburn officiating. Mr. Senn’s grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment followed the service at Rayville Masonic Cemetery.
