Ed Silk, Father of Wire Editor
in Monroe, Dies

RAYVILLE, July 1,1955
Funeral services were held here at 2 p.m. today for Ed Silk, 75,
who died at his home Thursday afternoon.  Services were held at
the First Baptist church (Sic.) of Rayville with Dr. H. R. 
Herrington officiating.  Interment was in the Masonic cemetery 
under the direction of the Catron-Gay Funeral Home.

He was the father of Oland Silk,telegraph editor of the Monroe News-
Star. Silk, whose residence was on Route Four, Rayville, is 
survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Silk;  three daughters, Mrs. F. N. Roberts, of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. J. H. Sorey and Gladys Southall, 
both of Rayville; two sons, Allen L. Silk, of Rayville, and Oland 
Silk, of Monroe;  one sister, Mrs. Julia Hunter, of Rayville;  and
six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Kidd, Walter Kidd, Ed JOnes, Lawson Travis, Ernest
Brown, and Jim Aycock.
