Taunton Funeral services for Mrs. Edwina Payne Taunton, age 66, were held Monday, March 8, 2004 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Rayville, Louisiana with Rev. Joe Arnold officiating. Burial was held in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery. Edwina was born May 5, 1937 in Richland Parish to the union of Edward Francis and Effie May Peterson Payne and passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Rayville Guest House following a lengthy illness. She had worked for State Farm for many years, was a homemaker and member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Edwina was very involved with her church and their activities. She loved to cook, do crafts, and many other things. Edwina was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Taunton 1984; parents, Edward Francis(Eddie) and Effie Mae Peterson Payne, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Lela Taunton; three brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, and other relatives. Survivors include her two aunts, Elizabeth Caston and Elsie Adcock of Rayville, LA; two brothers-in-law, Billy Joe Taunton of Homer La, and Wendell Wayne Taunton and wife Rita of West Monroe, LA; three sisters-in-law, Maurine Melville of Bossier City, LA.., Pat Odom and husband, Alfred of Rayville,LA., and Joyce King and husband, Claude of West Monroe, LA; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Pallbearers were Larry Milby, Glen Bryan, Kirby Hendrix, Gordon Allen, Ronald Gonzales, and B.J. McKnight. The family would like to thank Dr. David Thompson, and his staff for their l oving care of Edwins.
