Mr. Lingo was a retired 30-year Navy Veteran. In World War II, he was involved in a number of battles in the Pacific arena, and received numerous awards and medals, including the Purple Heart. He traveled the world and lived in several countries. His proudest accomplishment was in helping to rebuild Japan, following the war. During this time, he befriended a young Japanese student and taught him to speak English. That student credits Mr. Lingo with helping him to become a very successful businessman. He and his wife visited on a regular basis, including a visit from Yokohama, Japan, to see Mr. Lingo this past summer. Mr. Lingo was a thirty-two degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Masonic lodge for fifty-three years. Because of his great love for fishing and hunting, his last house was built on a farm near a large pond. The family sends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dan Lafleur and the staff at Colonial Manor for their loving care. His devotion to his wife and his family will never be forgotten.
