GLADYS DIAMOND LANE Services for Mrs. Gladys Diamond Lane, age 78, of Rayville, LA will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2003 at First Baptist Church Rayville, LA with Dr. Ernest Winburn and Dr. Warren Blakeman officiating. Burial will be in Rayville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home - Rayville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Rayville, Daughters of the American Revolution, North LA Historical Association, the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also co-owner of LaneÆs Drug store in Rayville. A graduate of Rayville High School, she attended Louisiana Tech University and was President of her senior class. She received WhoÆs Who of the American College and University. She graduated with a BS from La. Tech in 1945, then went to L.S.U. graduate school and graduated with her MA in 1951. She spent many years teaching, both at Rayville High School and Riverfield Academy. She wrote the Alma Mater for both schools. She was proud of her church, and served in many positions, from Sunday school teacher to Vacation Bible School Director. She was also proud of her community, serving on numerous committees. She was most proud of her marriage and her children. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Shelley Diamond Sr. and Ruby Durham Diamond and a brother Shelley Diamond Jr. She is survived by her husband: Lamar W. Lane, Sr. of Rayville, LA; children: Miriam Lane Davey and her husband Rex of Baton Rouge, LA, Lamar W. Lane Jr. and his wife Heather of Rayville, LA, Matthew W. Lane and his wife Beverly of Taylor AR, Andrew D. Lane and his wife Melinda of Shreveport, LA, David M. Lane and his wife Lea Anne of Bossier City, LA and Daniel D. Lane of West Monroe, LA; eighteen grandchildren; he sisters: Addye Laura Diamond Kozel and her husband Ray of Sun City, AZ and Helen Diamond of Rayville, LA; sister-in-law: Bette Diamond of Ocean Springs, MS; her aunt: Georgia Durham Pinkston of Baton Rouge; and a special cousin: Miriam Robinson Monk of Minden, LA. Pallbearers will be Mark Branch, Terry Doughty, George Gladney, Bill Newsom, Johnnie Morris, Emmett Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. David Thompson and Former Students and Classmates. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
