In Memory of Sallie Hewitt Landers After days and weeks of weary watching, tender nursing and best of medical skill, the soul of Sallie Hewitt Landers, beloved wife of Henry Landers, and daughter of Mrs. A. L. Hewitt, of near Mangham, in the late evening of Tuesday, May 28th, left its tenement of clay and sought rest in the bosom of the eternal Father. While yet in the rosy morning of a useful life; the message came that her labors on earth were ended, and that the Master had need of her. Without murmur or complaint, she laid down her burdens and her earthly pleasures and responded with serene loyalty to the divine summons. In the silent and darkened home, which was wont to be brightened by the sunshine of her gentle love, her devoted husband and two children, abide in desolation and grief unspeakable. Also a mother has lost a fond daughter and sisters and brothers a dear sister, but cheer up loved ones, and remember she has only gone on before, and stands watching and waiting for you, one by one. Mrs. Landers was in her 30th year. So young and sweet, how can they grow accustomed to her absence? It seems like a dream; but alas! too true. Those loving eyes will greet them no more, for the angel of death has snatched her away. But precious Sallie, you'll have to look down on them from Heaven, and ask our divine savior to console them for a loss, that only the balm of a merciful God can heal. "Call not back the dear departed Anchored safe where storms are o'er Soon to meet and part no more, Far beyond this world of chances, Far beyond this world of care; We shall find our missing loved One, In the land so bright and fair."
