Hardy James E. Hardy 66, of near Rayville died at his home last Friday following a cerebral hemorrhage. The funeral was held in the Mann Church of God on Saturday at 3 P.M. Interment, in charge of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, was in the Stevenson Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Paul Louque, Fred Barksdale, and Paul Carrier of Baton Rouge and Bryan Stanley, Jack Freeland of Rayville and Virgil Valentine of Fairbanks. Honorary pallbearers were all friends of the family. Mr. Hardy was a lifelong resident of Richland Parish, engaged for the greatest part of his life in farming here. He spent several years in Franklin Parish as an overseer of the Ellis Place there a number of years ago, and left Richland Parish for another period of about seven years when he was employed by Standard Oil Company in Baton Rouge. He had retired from his employment by the Standard Oil Company last year, and had returned to his native parish where he was residing at the time of his death. “Jim” Hardy, as he was affectionately known throughout this section, was married to Miss Ella Stevenson of another old Richland Parish family on December 20, 1905. Two daughters were born to this union. Mr. Hardy lived a life of Christianly virtue, and was highly respected by a host of friends throughout the state. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Mrs. H.O. Smith of near Rayville and Mrs. John T. Clack of Baton Rouge; a brother, Ben Hardy of Rayville; a sister, Mrs. P.W. Chambers of West Monroe, and two grandchildren. To the grieving family the editor and staff offer their sincerest condolences. Added note: James Edward Hardy was the son of M.H. Hardy and Elizabeth Bird Justice Hardy. Daugheters were-Velma Geneva Hardy Smith and Rubye Anne Hardy Clack. Grandchildren are Dorothy Ann Smith and James Henry Smith
