Byargeon, 83, of Rayville, LA will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Rick Byargeon, Rev. Joe Arnold and Sister Sue Day. Interment will be at Gwin Cemetery in Mangham, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home in Rayville. John "Buck" C. Byargeon was born on August 10, 1922 in Alto, LA and passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Monroe, LA. Mr. Byargeon was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was the teacher of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class for many years. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He served aboard the USS San Francisco in the Western Pacific. He and his shipmates took part in attacks on twenty-eight separate enemy-held islands, and they won fourteen battles during their participation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Hales Byargeon; parents, Foster and Margaret Byargeon and his sisters, Ida Bell Lively and Mae Byargeon. Survivors include his children, Gene Hutson of West Monroe, LA, Jane Patterson of High Point, NC, John C. Byargeon, Jr. of Elm Grove, LA and Rick W. Byargeon of Pineville, LA; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Davie Day, Trey Byargeon, J.J. Patterson, Curt Hutson, Jerry Ray Roberts and Bobby Hales. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, March 31, 2006 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home.
