JOYCE HUNTER LOFTIN Services for Mrs. Joyce Hunter Loftin, 87, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday January 9, 2003 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA with Rev. David Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Delhi Masonic Cemetery. Mrs. Loftin died January 6, 2003 at the North Monroe Medical Center. Mrs. Loftin was a Sunday school teacher at Parkview Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Northminster Church. She received her BS degree from Northwestern LA. University and Master's from Northeast LA University. She was a retired school teacher in Richland and Franklin Parishes for over 32 years, and was classroom supervisor for 10 years. Mrs. Loftin was a member of the River Oaks Grandmother's Club and the St. Francis Medical Center Auxillary, where she worked in the gift shop. She was very active in the Strauss Theatre, serving as prop mistress for 15 years; performances included Arsenic and Old Lace. She celebrated her 80th birthday on stage in Lost in Yonkers. The cast and crew members loved her good food and knew not to touch her prop table. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. B. Loftin; son, L. B. (Buddy) Loftin; parents, George and Alice Hunter; brothers, Fred and George Hunter. Survivors: Daughters, Audrey Loftin Moton and husband, Glyn of Jefferson, PA., Frances Loftin Thrasher of Monroe, LA.; grandchildren, Kyle Thrasher Wooldridge and husband, Jim, Hunter Loftin and wife, Cynthia, and Allison Loftin all of Monroe, LA., Lowen B. Loftin and wife, Laura of Dallas, TX., Kathryn DeLee of Albany, GA., Kimberly Thrasher Madden and husband, John of Jackson, MS.; eight great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hunter Maxwell of Delhi, LA.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Fred Hunter, Jerry Hunter, Steve Maxwell, Ricky Maxwell, Roy Neathery, John Robert Hunter, Pleny Pennebaker and Ken Loftin. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, La. Memorials may be made to the Strauss Theatre or the Northminster Church.
