James Richard Carter

Funeral services for James Richard Carter,66, of West Monroe,LA formerly 
of Richland Parish, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16,2001, at the 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Dalallo officiating.Burial 
followed in the Twin Cities Memorial Garden Cemetery of West Monroe.

Mr. Carter was born March 6, 1935 in Holly Ridge, LA and died Thursday, 
June 14, 2001 in Monroe.

He was the owner of Ramada Shell and Carter’s Car Center and was employed 
at Lee Edwards Volkswagen. He was Commander of DAV J. H. McClendon Chapter 8.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Vernon Carter;his mother, 
Sady Hocutt Carter; a sister Dorothy Carter Price and a brother Melvin Eugene 
Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Carter; his children, Gail Walker 
and her husband, Dewayne all of West Monroe, Larry Carter and his wife 
Renee of Vickburg, MS, Cherie Henson and her husband, Mark of Terrell,
Texas; John Martin of Stuttgart, AR; and Doug Martin and his wife, Iris 
of Welshbiling, Germany; Randy Martin and his wife, Karie of Pineville,
LA, Michelle Martin and her husband Daniel of West Monroe; his sister,
Patricia Thompson and her husband Alan of Holly Ridge, LA; a brother
Charles Carter and his wife, Etta Mae of Placentia, CA; a brother-in-law, 
James Price, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren ;a host of 
nieces and nephews; and many loving and supportive friends.

Serving as pallbearers were C.D. Bradford, Bruce Cosby, Ervin Chamberless, 
Robert Woodhead, James Henderson, James Jennings, and Noel Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the DAV, and the members
of the DAV Ladies Auxilliary.
