John S. Banks Monroe Morning World Thursday August 17, 1961
 
Funeral services for John Solomon Banks, 88, a resident 
of New Light Community near Mangham, who died in a local 
clinic died Wednesday afternoon, are scheduled to be held 
at 10 a.m. Friday at the Lone Cherry Baptist Church. 
Officiating will be Rev. Claude Jenkins, pastor of Lone 
Cherry Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. L.P. Arrender of 
Holly Ridge.  Interment will follow in the Lone Cherry Cemetery  
near Mangham under the direction of First National Funeral Home 
of Winnsboro. Body will be in state in the funeral home chapel 
until time for services.
Survivors are his widow Mrs. Mary M. Banks, Mangham; two daughters, 
Mrs. Dottie Tannehill and Mrs. Gladys Cartlidge, both of Mangham; 
one son, Jessie W. Banks, Mangham; two brothers, Joel and Will Banks both of Mangham; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
