All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * J.”Jake” William Dampier Funeral services for J. “Jake” William Dampier, 77, of Rayville, LA. were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23,2001, at the Rayville First Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Winburn officiating. Burial followed in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Brown- Holley Funeral Homes of Rayville. Mr. Dampier died January 21, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a member of the Richland Parish Cattlemen’s Association and the Rayville First Baptist Church. He was precede in death by his parents, L.N. and Lottie Dampier; a sister Gladys Mann; and a grandson, Jay Mercer. Survivors include his wife, Margie Avants Dampier of Rayville, LA.; his daughters-Carolyn Mercer of Rayville, Marilyn Herrington of Rayville, Karen Sheets of Point Comfort, TX. and Barbara Guynes of Start, LA.; his son William L. Dampier of Monroe, LA; his sisters-Lillian Carroll of Petal, MS., Helen Carroll of Shrevepot, LA. and Loree Autonberry of Monroe, La.;16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Glyn McGlinton, Bob Johnston, Pete Mulhearn Jr., J.B. Montgomery, Gene Blaylock and James Johnston.
