All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** James William "Buddy" Tucker, Sr. James William "Buddy" Tucker, Sr., 81, died Friday, September 3, 2004, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was the son of the late Dennis and Elsie Velma (Poland) Tucker of Dunn,Richland Parish,Louisiana. Mr.Tucker graduated from Delhi High School in Delhi,Richland Parish,LA, where he grew up on a farm. He moved to Chattanooga in 1941 and went to work for Wade Brown Furniture Co. In November 1941, he went to work for the Southern Railway System. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps on October 24, 1942. He served in the South Pacific with the 621st Air Material Squadron 363rd Air Service Group on Saipan and Iwo Jima. He was Honorably discharged as a corporal on February 6, 1946, with several medals. He retired after 41 years of service with Southern Railway, where he was a claims clerk. He was a member of the Westview Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Violet Geraldine (Ertman) Tucker; two daughters, Violet Loretta "Tiny" TUCKER Autrey, Ringgold,GA, and Katherine Janet Tucker Alford, Chattanooga,TN; two sons, Richard Byron Tucker, East Ridge,TN and James William Tucker, Jr., Sumter,SC; eight grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Adelle Tucker Black, Rayvilee,LA and Audrey Ruth Tucker Fuller, Delhi,LA; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with C.L. Harbin officiating and full military honors provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12;30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 S. Moore Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 715 Market Street, Chattanooga,TN 37402.
