Kelly. Our community was shocked on Saturday evening last to hear of the death of this lady. It was known that she was in bad health and said to be suffering from that incurable disease, consumption, but her death was not expected to come so suddenly. Mr. Kelly came down to town that morning and left her, as he thought, as well as she had been for a long time; in fact,it is said she trimmed his hair for him that morning. Little did he think that the sad news of her death would reach town before he returned home, about five mile north of Rayville, but such was the case. Dr. Wilkins had been treating Mrs. Kelly before, and he went up to see her Saturday. It seems that just as the doctor entered the hall she met him and expressed her as being glad to see him, and strange to say, she was dead in a moment. Death seemed to have struck her just at that time. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church; was loved and respected by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and three small children, two girls and a boy, who are bereft of a mother's care and love. Her remains were brought down to town on Sunday and left in the church for a time while Rev. E. Miller made a few approprite remarks, after which they were conveyed to the Rayville grave yard, followed by a large crowd of sorrowing friends, and laid away. May she sleep in peace.
