Peters, 85, of Delhi, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday April 12, 2001, at the Newton Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Newton Cemetery, under the direction of Community Funeral Homes of Winnsboro, LA.. Mrs. Peters died Monday, April 9, 2001, at the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. She was a resident of Delhi, a homemaker and a member of the Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Peters; and by two sons, Charles R. Peters, and Shelby L. Peters. Survivors include her sons, James G. Peters of Gilbert and Kenneth W. Peters of Monroe LA,; her brothers, Abe Hosea and Claude Hosea, both of Delhi, LA.; her sisters, Edna McVay of Farmerville, LA., and Bessie Hogan ,Marvell Jurls and Sallie Weems, all of Delhi, LA.; 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Peters, Randy Peters, Mark Peters, Gary Peters, J.D. Stewart, and Gary “Shorty” Shirley. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Peebles, Dalton Oliver, Sonny Hosea and Edward Sawyer.
