Black Services for Melva Ellen Hendrix Black, 64, or Rayville, were held November 9 at Brown-Holley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Troy Dennard officiating. Burial followed in Shanks Cemetery in Rayville under the direction of Brown-Holley funeral Home. Mrs. Black passed away November 6. She was a member of West New Home Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Terry Hendrix; and her brother Melvin Boris Hendrix. Survivors include her husband, James Black of Rayville; three daughters. Michelle O’Deay of Monroe, Lynette Casares of Beeville, Texas, and Allison Black of Rayville; a son, Bradley Black of Walpole, N.H.; three sisters, Lela Faye Silk of Rayville, Mary Lee Cisko of Jacksonville, FL., and Nancy Stokley of Rayville; and a brother, Terry Lawrence Hendrix of Jacksonville, FL. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Brandon Maldonado, Austin Maldonado, Justin Black, Jeremy Black, Rachel Black and Derrick Casares.
