With her husband and six children, Mrs. Phillips lived on a cotton farm near Holly Ridge. She made many friends through the years with her kind heart and ready smile. She was a charter and faithful member of the Shady Grove Church of God. She was considered by many to be one of the last of the "Old Guard", never wavering from beliefs, customs, and traditions of her church. When her health was good, she was a constant visitor to nursing homes in the region, bringing hope and cheer to those in need. Mrs. Phillips' deep faith sustained her through many hard times and helped her to accept those things she could not change with grace and dignity. She had no doubt where she was going when her time was up. She did not fear death and looked forward to being with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clinton and Vida Houck Yeates, brothers, Robert and Albert Yeates and sister, Lillie Mae Cates. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Eddie J. Phillips, children, William Edward and wife Judy Dianne of West Monroe, Marie Thompson and husband William (Bill) of Monroe, Louise Carroll of Chatham, Kenneth Louis and wife Faye of Hampton, GA, Ricky LaRon Phillips of Rayville, and Gary Lane Phillips and wife Carolyn of Rayville; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Bill and Bonnie Phillips, Elijah of Bald Knobb, AR, Jodi Marie and Bruce Thornton and Cole of West Monroe, LA, Cynthia Dawn Meade of Houston, Don Allen Meade of Shreveport, Clif Carroll of Chatham, Clay and Teresa Carroll, Elizabeth Louise, Jeffery Clay and Brandon Loyce of Jonesboro, LA, Kenneth Craig Phillips of Hampton, GA, Robin and Robbie Williamson, Stephen, Cole, and Cristan of Hampton, GA, April Renea Phillips and David Lane Phillips of Rayville, LA. Grandchildren will be her pallbearers. She deeply loved the Lord, her family, her church and her friends. She will be greatly missed.
