Allen Miller officiating. Internment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery Monroe, LA. Ms. Opal was born Dec. 8,1908 in Linden, TX and lived most of her life in Rayville and Graduated from Rayville High School in 1927. and passed away September 11, 2005, She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Rayville and loved the Triple " L " . Opal was a dedicated wife to Bill and a wonderful homemaker. Her greatest love and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her therapy was to plant flowers, work in her yard, and sew for those she loved. Her greatest gift that she gave to those around her was her simplicity of life and knowing that it was the riches God had bestowed upon her. Ms. Opal was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years W. B. "Bill" Stoddard, Her parents Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Lane, three brothers Alvin Lane, Sr., Jodie Lane, Loyd Lane and a sister Beatrice Auntley. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Bobby Bryant of Monroe, LA; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Nan Stoddard of Shreveport, LA; three granddaughters, Peggy Scogin and her husband Robert, Michele Letson and her husband Jeff and Cheryle Magouirk Ledbetter; seven great grandchildren, Magen Letson, Bryant Letson, Preston Magouirk, Lee Magouirk, Jenny Ledbetter, Harrison Ledbetter and Sara Scogin. Special thanks to the Oaks Resident Home and all the wonderful staff that gave so much, especially Cindy Spencer, Hospice of LA and her hospice nurse Amy Robinson, and the care of Dr. Charles Morgan. Pallbearers for the service will be Alivn Lane, Jr., Mac McConathy, Jeff Letson, Marion Stoddard, Robert Scogin and Herman Stoddard. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
