Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family residence, with Rev. L.P. Arender, Baptist minister, officiating. Interment was in the Lone Cherry cemetery under the direction of the First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Pallbearers were Leslie Banks, Ellis Duncan, W.O. Jones, Traylor Jones, Allen Weston and Willie Tannehill.Mr. Gandy is survived by his wife, Bettey Elizabeth Banks Gandy; two sons, O.P. Gandy and R. L. Gandy, Mangham,; and two daughters, Miss Maude Gandy and Mrs. Kenneth George, Mangham. In Memory of Robert Gandy - Saturday 22 March 1947 - Richland Beacon News Oh! Death, thou hast no sting for they victim. We of life bear the sting upon our shattered hearts. Mortal is not skilled to understand the ways, and when thou with icy blade of thy cycle keen reaped our loved ones, we wept, we prayed, but mercy heard us not. God in His wisdom said, "Enough on earth, come dwell with me." Robert Gandy departed this life last Tuesday evening after many weeks of illness. He bore his suffering with patience and was always cheerful to talk with friends and loved ones. He enjoyed the visits from all who came. No person ever possessed a warmer heart than he.To his family he was a devoted husband and He was always found striving for the betterment of those he loved. His home was one of love, peace and contentment. To his community he was ever faithful and loyal, always ready to take the stand for the right, to those who were in distress it was his pleasure to comfort them. He loved the church and its teachings. He was found ready to give to the cause of Christ. His many deeds of kindness will ever live. We have placed them upon the calendar of our memory. We feel deep personal sorrow in the passing of this our loved one. God has not said that life shall be From every cross and sorrow free; He has not said that doubt and care Will never meet us anywhere; But He has said His strengthening power Will be our aid through every hour; His grace suffice for all we bear His love surround us everywhere.
