Speirs, 77, of Delhi will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 19, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Delhi with Dr. Marcus Murphy and Ralph’s brother-in-law, Rev. Milford Walters officiating. Mr. Speirs was born in Coffeeville, Mississippi, on Jul. 21, 1927 and departed this life Nov. 16, 2004 Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi. Burial will be in Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Delhi with Navy Military Honors conducted at graveside. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi. Mr. Speirs was an avid sportsman. He loved being outside, having a big garden to share with friends. Fishing was his favorite sport. He owned his own business, Speirs Body Shop for 35 years in Delhi. He served in WWII on the USS Crenshaw APA76 from 1944 to 1946. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Katie Ruth, his Mother and Dad, Eddie Speirs Allen and Thomas Jefferson Speirs and his Brother, William G. "Bill" Speirs. He is survived by his wife, Melba of Delhi, two sons; Ralph T. Speirs Jr. of Monroe, Randy and wife Marcie of Delhi; his grandchildren, Jessica Patton and husband Harvey of Shreveport, Tommy Speirs and wife, Kelly of Ruston, Mike Speirs of Nashville, TN, Susan Speirs of Ruston and Amy Speirs of Monroe, two great grandchildren Sadie and E than Patton of Shreveport, a host of nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his niece, Evelyn Blackwell and her husband, Kenneth of Baton Rouge, LA. Pallbearers will be Raymond Stroud, Fuller Thompson, Billy Ray Sykes, Bubba Perry, Bud LaPrarie, Bruce Tatum, Lester Harrell, and Jim Free. Honorary pallbearers will be Tendal Jones, Dr. Corey Albritton, Dr. Sam Scurria, Mike Lee, and his brother in laws, Jack Hawsey and James Roy Walters.
