Mrs. S. A. Crawford died on Wednesday of last week of pneumonia and this tragedy was followed by the death of the father S. A. Crawford, on Saturday, who also died of pneumonia. Both were buried in the Lone Cherry Cemetery, Reverand Keys of the Baskin Baptist Church, officiating. Besides the illness of the father and mother with pneumonia their three daughters were also ill of this same malady at the same time. Fortunately the daughters are recovering. The survivors to this couple stricken so close together are: one son, Troy Crawford, with the air services of the United States Army; four daughters, Mrs. Joe Williams, Misses Ollie, Maudie and Ovie Crawford, all of Mangham; two brothers, S. J. and J. A. Crawford of Mangham; and two sisters, Mrs. Nobles, of Mangham, and Mrs. Edward Goodwin, of Glass, Miss. The Crawfords were natives of Scott County, Miss, and removed to Richland parish with their family in 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Crawford were among the best Christian citizens of the community and enjoyed the love and esteem of all their neighbors. The dual affliction which has fallen with such a cruel and heavy blow upon the stricken family is deeply deplored by a wide circle of friends. Charitable, sincere, honest, honorable and upright in all their relationships, they will be profoundly missed. The depth of the sorrow of the family can not be plumbed, but it may be of some consolation to them to have the assurance of the devotion of so many fond friends who mingle their tears with theirs and their bereavement. The Beacon-News asks the sacred privilege to offer its sympathy to the sorely bereaved members of the heart-broken family.
