Mrs. Cook died October 2, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Gulley; a sister, Corine Navarro; and by her brothers, Trinidad Fabela and Robert Fabela. Survivors include her daughters, Sally Issac of Alsatia, LA., Deleree Piercy of Monroe, LA., Wanda Matthews of Rayville, LA., Dottie Couch of Brandon, MS., Andrea Borden of Rayville, LA.,Sarah Welch of Rogers, AR. and Jerrie Bendily of Start, LA.; two sons, Chevenne Gulley of Monroe, LA. and David Gulley of Columbia, LA., two sisters, Lillie Hughes of Belle Chase, LA. and Georgia Tilton of Oak Grove, LA.;a brother, George Gonzales of Port Arthur, Texas;33 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Nicholas Couch, Charlie Jackson, Richard Jackson, James A. Cardwell, Jr. and Chet Pullum. Larry Shoemaker, Daniel Grissom, and Michael Hughes were honorary pallbearers.
