THELMA DARK DEAL

   Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Dark Deal, age 73, of Monroe, 
LA will be held Sunday, April 18, 2004 at the Start Baptist Church 
in Start, LA with Rev. Jeff Smart and Rev. Fred Robertson officiating. 
Burial will follow in Start Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley 
Funeral Home, Rayville.
   Mrs. Deal passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2004 due to a brief illness.
She was born on January 27, 1931 in Gaars Mills, LA. She grew up in Start, 
LA, and lived for many years in Shreveport and Springhill before moving to 
Monroe, LA. She also spent several years in Zwolle, LA, at Toledo Bend Lake 
after retiring from forty-one years of service at the Louisiana Social 
Services Division. During this time Mrs. Deal acquired many life long friends 
and was a dedicated and active member at several churches. Mrs. Deal was 
proceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Lucille Dark.
   She is survived by her husband of fifty years, James M. Deal. She is also 
survived by her daughter: Deanna D. Dickerson and husband, Bill of Cicero, IN, 
along with step-grandchildren: Jennifer Dickerson and Eric Dickerson of Pendleton, 
IN. Other survivors include her brothers: Shelby Dark and wife, Janet, Will Dark 
and wife, Evelyn; sister: Shirley Woodard. Mrs. Deal had eight special nieces and 
nephews along with their families.
   Pallbearers will be Buddy Copeland, Billy Coughran, Milton Craighead, Walter Garner, 
Aubry Trisler, and Elmo Wynn.
Visitation will be at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Saturday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home 
in Rayville.
   Thelma Deal will be forever remembered and treasured by her family and friends.
