All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * Charles Vernon Freeland Funeral services for Charles Vernon Freeland, 79, resident of Rayville, will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Eastside Baptist Church in Rayville with Rev. Kyle Coates and Rev. Fred Keys officiating. Interment will follow at Stevenson Cemetery in Rayville under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA. Mr. Charles Vernon Freeland was born on June 23, 1925 in Rayville, LA, and passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the Richardson Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Today Vernon is celebrating his 80th birthday in heaven with Jesus. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Rayville. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, R.W. and Annie Freeland; two brothers, H.J. Freeland and Carl Freeland and one sister, Marjorie Wiggins. Vernon was a lifelong resident of Richland Parish and worked in the Service Station business for many years. In later life, he continued serving his community as custodian for the Rayville Jr. High School until his retirement. Vernon enjoyed working in his yard, caring for the church grounds and was well loved for his compassion, acts of kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Lee Orville Freeland; daughter: Martha Ann and husband Les Wallace of West Monroe, LA; two granddaughters: Christina and husband Ken Ford, Leisa and husband Chess Hill, both of West Monroe, LA; four great grandchildren: Madison, Kennedy, Connor, and Olivia; two sisters: Juanita Bizzell of Mustang, OK. Evelyn and husband Will Dark of West Monroe, LA; extended special family members: Evelyn Dorman, Virginia and William Bowman, Joyce and Lloyd Posey, Nelda and Ray Forrester, Jim and Mary Killen, Mary Killen, Jesse and Katherine Killen, Durryl and Linda Killen. Pallbearers will be David Bizzell, Don Bizzell, Ken Bizzell, Karl Bizzell, Randall Dark, Gary Freeland, and Fred Freeland. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Seymour and Lavon Grantham.
