Stephens funeral services were held August12, 2006, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Rayville. Pastor Ronald D. Lee and Rev. C.R. Jackson officiated. Richardson and Sims funeral home deposited her body in the New Boggy Baptist church cemetery in Waskom, Texas. Ms. Zephyr B. Stephens was born on august 20, 1920 to the late Andrew and Tommie Stephens in Waskom, Texas. She was the eldest of five siblings that have all preceded her in death. Mrs. Stephens departed this world on August 6, 2006 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Ms. Stephens professed a belief in Christ at an early age. She is a former member of the New Boggy Baptist Church if Waskom, Texas. She later joined the Macedonia Baptist Church of Rayville, where she faithfully served until her death. Ms Stephens was the current president of Macedonia Women’s Mission. Ms Stephens was educated in the public schools of Waskom. She was a graduate of Wiley College with a degree in education. She was a dedicated educator of 33 years with the Richland Parish School System as a teacher at Rayville Rosenwald High School, Eula D. Britton and later Rayville High School. Ms. Stephen also worked as a Stanley Products agent. She was a Troop leader with the Silver Waters Girl Scouts. She was the current president of the Louisiana Chapter of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association #1. Mrs. Stephens survivors are many nieces and nephews in California and Ohio; nephews Erivaldo P. Harris of Boyd, Texas, Claude E. Harris Jr. of Harvey, Illinois, and a niece, Mrs. Regan (Edward) Jones of Country Club Hills, Ill; Pastor R.D. Lee, other family members and friends escorted her body Top Waskom, Texas for burial.
