From the bridge go about 1 mile to Merritt Mtn. Road. Turn north and follow the road to the end. From this point you will have to climb the hill. The cemetery is about 200 yds. west of where the fire tower used to stand. Carter Cemetery on Merritt Mountain, compiled by Lily Carter Thurman Jan. 1981. Most of these graves were marked with wooden plaques which have since faded away, but at the time transcribed were still readable. Lily Thurman knew where they were buried.
