Elm Baptist Cemetery Listed Aug. 1999 Elm Baptist Cemetery is located south of Toledo Town off of Hwy 191. Go south on Hwy 191 from the intersection with Hwy 6 about 8.5 miles. Turn west on Lakeside Loop. Go about .7 miles and bear left at that intersection. The church and cemetery are about 2.8 miles further on. There is a stone monument inside the cemetery gate with this inscription: 1968 Erected by Sabine River Authority, State of Louisiana, and the Toledo Bend Project. In memory of any unknown persons whose unknown and unmarked graves may have been inundated by the Toledo Bend Dam and Reservoir Project. May they rest in peace. Dedicated as a part of the Elm Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. C. C. Pierce, Pastor Most of the markers here are "Unknown", with the inscription "Green Cook". Apparently Green Cook is a cemetery that was inundated by Toledo Bend. There was a listing of the Green Cook Cemetery done in 1959 by members of the D.A.R. At that time 2 monuments were listed. Currently there are 24 markers, most of them "Unknown". The earliest burial found was in 1918. Missing or unreadable dates are listed as "unk" for unknown month and day, and "9999" for unknown year. Unless there was some indication on the tombstone that people were married, I've tried to use the convention of "b/w" to indicate "buried with" for multiple burials with a single tombstone. I've also tried to note relationships, children, and military notations in the comments column.
