VAN SHOUBROEK, DECEASED Petition: To the Honorable the Judge of the 9th Judicial District Court, sitting in and for the Parish of Sabine and State of Louisiana, The Petition of Louis Van Schoubroek a resident of the Parish of Sabine and State aforesaid with respect represents that his wife Susan T. Van Schoubroek died sometime since in the Parish aforesaid, leaving a small succession in community with your Petitioner, situated in the Parish aforesaid, consisting of movables and immovable property. Wherefore he prays that a commission issue to A. R. Mitchell a notary Public in and for the Parish of Sabine, authorizing and empowering him to take an Inventory and cause an appraisement to be made of said Succession. He further prays that he be confirmed as natural Tutor to his minor children issue of his marriage with the said Susan, to wit: Silas H. Van Schoubroek, Charles M. Van Schoubroek and Helena Ann Van Schoubroek, according to law, and he further prays that John G. Buvens be appointed under Tutor to said minors, he further prays for all such other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. A. R. Van Schoubroek deceased and held in community with her surviving husband, Louis Van Schoubroek, I did proceed on this the 16th day of September AD 1862, at the late residence of the said Deceased in the Parish of Sabine to take said Inventory and cause an appraisement to be made of said property by John G. Buvens and Isaiah Greer good and lawful appraisers, residing in said Parish of Sabine, who were first sworn by me, said notary before commencing said Inventory, and in the presence of John B. Perkins witnesses of lawful age and residing in said Parish, said Inventory was made in words and figures following to sit: Immovables seventy eight acres (78) of land more or less situated in the Parish of Sabine & State aforesaid the same being the last place of residence of the deceased, and that upon which the said husband now resides and known as the Tan Yard together with all the buildings and improvements thereon belonging at One thousand Dollars $1,000.00. Van Schoubroek, herewith presents the amount of the indebtedness of the community existing between him and his wife at the time of her death which he had paid and prays that he in his capacity of Tutor may be credited with the same.
