Online < http://books.google.com>. William H. Holloway. Committee on Military Affairs recommened the passage of H.R. 9437 for the removal of the charge of desertion against Wm. H. Holloway. Summary: William H. Holloway was a veteran of the War with Mexicon. He was a corporal in Co. H, lst Alabama Infantry Volunteers, Cpt. Youngbloods Co. He enrolled 17 June 1846 at Troy, Pike County, Alabama and served until 31 October 1846 when he contracted diarrhea and measles and was furloughed home to Pike County, Alabama where he was bedridden for three or four months at the home of his step-father, Henry Bloxom. Before his recovery his unit was disbanded and his enlistment was up. He landed at Brazes Santiago about 4 July 1846 and went to Matamoros. When he became ill, he was sent home on the steamer, Alabama and went to his stepfather's in November or December of 1846. William Holloway signed an affidavit on 30 January 1892. Also signing affidavits on his behalf were Rev. J.M. Franklin of Sabine Parish, Louisianna and John J. Byles, surveyor of Louisianna and Dr. Henry Farrier, attending physician. His petition was denied because no record of his illness existed.
