New Orleans Times Picayune September 23, 1861
We have a letter from an old subscriber in Sabine parish, dated Burr's Ferry, 
Sept. 14, in which he says:

Thos. F. Grey, one of our oldest and most respected citizens, was killed by 
one of his slaves, who stabbed him with a large butcher knife, causing his 
death in about two hours.  The negro has not been apprehended yet.
