Abington, 90, of Russellville, died January 11. He was retired following 30 years of federal service as property division storage chief at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. He also retired from 15 years of service with the Arkansas Legislature. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church, past commander of the American Legion, a 32nd-Degree Mason and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Etna Doss Abington; one son, William "Bill" Abington of Russellville; one daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Russellville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a nephew, Pete Abington of Many; and was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas C. Abington. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Shinn Funeral Home at Russellville. Burial was followed at Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
