Alton Austin

  Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21, for Alton Austin,
59. Mr. Austin died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 11:20 p.m.

  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Elruse Austin of Benson; two sons,
Larry Austin of Converse, and Leroy Austin of U.S.A.F. in Calif.;
three daughters, Pauline McKee of Florissant, Audrey Leach of Las
Vegas, Nev., and Opal Allen of Shreveport; four brothers, Solen
Austin of Mitchell, Louis Austin, and Amos Austin, both of
Shreveport, and Allen Austin of Sulphur; six sisters, Doshie
Ammons of Robeline, Hattie Mae Batson of Shreveport, Gracie
Hammond of Kansas City, Mo., Willie Maud Rhodes of Shreveport,
Eula Stokan of McKees Port, Penn., and Josie Thompson of
Independence, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

  Services were held in the Converse Baptist Church, with the Rev.
Bob Miller, and the Rev. Roach officiating. Burial was in the
Converse Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral
Home of Many.
