All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Edith Hollenshead Ashley Services for Mrs. Edith Hollendshead Ashley, 77, of Shreveport, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 11, at the Wellman Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Paul Cossel will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Julius Carter. Burial will be at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery near Homer, La. Mrs. Ashley died Tuesday, December 9, 1986, at Schumpert Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Claiborne Parish, La., and had been a resident of Shreveport for 30 years. She was Baptist. Mrs. Ashley was a longtime educator in North Louisiana, and taught at Randolph Private School, and owned and operated her own Edith Ashley Private School, and taught at other private schools in the Shreveport area, before retiring. She is survived by three sons, Horace Ashley of Shreveport, Carroll Stephen Ashley of Shreveport, and Ron Ashley of Converse; two daughters, Glenda Colvin of Dubach, and Arden Graff of Shreveport; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, M. S. Hollenshead of Garland, Tex., and Ralph Hollenshead of El Paso, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Sommers of Delhi, La., and Mrs. Inez Ruple of Haynesville, La. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family of Edith Hollenshead Ashley wishes to express their heartfelt thanks, especially to Dr. Christopher McDonald for his kindness, patience, and expertise in caring for our mother, We would also like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff, which cared for our mother during her stay at the Schumpert, located on the 4th floor, North Tower. We love all of you and appreciate your kindness and patience.
